Found Stereoscopes

As an autodidact, I had to create my own methods for learning not only the technique of stereoscopy, but the fundamental artistic principles that I wanted to bring to contemporary stereoscopic photography.

I began to collect both amateur and professional stereoscopic images from flea markets and on-line auctions. I focused mainly on 35mm slide stereoscopic images from the 1950's and 60's: family photos, salesman's product lines, travel photography, portraits, celebrations, and snapshots. As I sorted through thousands of these images of unknown people and places, I began to see a pattern of characteristics that produced the strongest images.
